Maxwell Suffers Torn ACL

by -

Clemson, SC-Clemson red-shirt freshman defensive back Byron Maxwell suffered a torn ACL of his right knee earlier this week. His status for the beginning of the 2007 season is unknown at this time.

Maxwell was working out on his own at Clemson with some of his teammates when he suffered the injury.

The 6-1 native of North Charleston, SC and Fort Dorchester High School did not play during the 2006, sitting out the season as a red-shirt. He suffered a torn ACL of his left knee during his senior year of high school.

Maxwell was listed as the number-three player in South Carolina by The State Newspaper his senior year and ranked as the #40 player in the entire nation by ESPN.com. He had 19 passes broken up and five interceptions as a junior in high school.
