View Full Profile became the 18th commitment of Clemson’s 2012 recruiting class when he committed to secondary coach Charlie Harbison Monday evening.

Williams is the 11th in-state player to commit to Clemson in this recruiting cycle. Rivals has him listed as the No. 26 Athlete in the nation, while Scout lists him as the No. 27-rated safety. Both services have him listed as a 3-star prospect.

Williams had offers from Arkansas, East Carolina, Florida, Georgia Tech, Miami (FL), Minnesota, North Carolina St, Notre Dame, South Carolina, and Wake Forest. Clemson was the first to offer.

As a junior, he rushed for 1,900 yards and 22 touchdowns, and passed for 600 yards and five touchdowns. As a sophomore, he had 49 tackles and more than 1000 yards on offense. This season he has rushed for over 1,000 yards and passed for over 500, including a stellar effort last weekend when he had 14 carries for 185 yards and was 6-for-13 through the air for 104 yards and two touchdowns.

His head coach at Fox Creek, Russ Schneider, told TigerNet that Williams was typically low-key in announcing his decision.

“He just stopped me on the way to my truck after practice tonight, and he said ‘Hey coach, I just wanted to tell you that I committed to Clemson.’ And then he turned around and left. Clemson is getting a good player. We use him all over the field, but I really see him playing safety at Clemson.”

ESPN scouting report on Williams: "Williams is a gifted athlete with terrific bulk and size that is utilized as a Wildcat QB, but strictly for his running services. He looks like a big tailback, has the vision and initial quickness to be a running back, but we are willing to bet he will end up as a wide receiver or safety/OLB hybrid."
