Little Go gets royal treatment during junior day visit

CLEMSON – Ronnie “Little Go” Geohaghan got the red carpet treatment on his Saturday visit to Clemson this past weekend.

Geohaghan, a safety prospect out of Allendale-Fairfax, made the drive to Clemson with his parents [including his father, “Big Go”] and cousin, and watched the Clemson basketball team secure fourth place in the ACC with a win over Virginia Tech.

And then Geohaghan got a big surprise.

“When we were done with the basketball game, we went over into the WestZone with my recruiter, coach [Marion] Hobby and coach Cheese [Charlie Harbison] and I got to talk to coach [Kevin] Steele,” Geohaghan told TigerNet. “When we got back from our little tour of the WestZone, coach [Dan] Brooks pulled us aside, and we went in and had a private meeting with coach Swinney.

“He explained how Clemson is a great environment for student-athletes. Clemson is not like other schools, and it is a small town Monday thru Friday. He said that everybody has the same priorities, and that you aren’t in a big city full of people.”

As Geohaghan and his family caught up with the rest of the tour, more surprises awaited.

“We went into the locker room, and they had all of these jerseys hanging in the lockers, and I didn’t think we would be able to try them on,” he said. “Then I saw a locker with my No. 35 hanging in there, and I got a chance to put that jersey on. I really enjoyed that.”

Then, Geohaghan got the biggest thrill of all.

“They let me get on the bus by myself, and ride around the stadium like they do on game day,” he said. “I got to get off the bus, touch Howard’s Rock, and then I got to run down the hill. And then they played a lot of my defensive highlights up on the Jumbotron. That was all really cool.”

Geohaghan, who is an excellent student, also said he enjoyed the visit to Vickery Hall.

“They just showed how Vickery Hall can help get everything planned out for you,” he said. “When you first get enrolled, they can help out a lot. They want to make sure that all of the players graduate. It was a great experience.”

Along with Clemson, Geohaghan has offers from South Carolina, Illinois, Kentucky, East Carolina, N.C. State and Tulane.

Geohaghan said his parents enjoyed the visit.

“Both of my parents like it,” he said. “My mom, she really loves coach Swinney. She likes the fact that he is a stand-up guy and a Christian guy. He told us I would get the same opportunity at Clemson as I would get at any other university, just in a better environment.”

Geohaghan said he is still taking his time in making a decision.

“You can't really say what will happen later down the road, but pretty soon I will have my top three or four leaders. It is still up in the air, but I really enjoyed my visit to Clemson.”
