Friday afternoon, his legacy expanded even more when his twin sons committed to play football at Clemson.

The Clemson coaching staff offered the 16-year-old twin linebackers from Daniel High School - J.D. and Judah - Thursday at the conclusion of the first session of camp.

Despite the legacy that Jeff Davis has made on Clemson athletics, J.D. and Judah are looking forward to making their own mark in Tigertown.

"It means everything to me. I am a big family person, and my dad opened the door with everything he has done at Clemson,” J.D. told TigerNet Thursday afternoon. “Now we get to do our own thing and start our own legacy. But we still get to see him every day, and he will be able to mentor us every step of the way."

Not only is their father close by, but they have three sisters who graduated from Clemson.

“My dad has a great legacy at Clemson, but our family has a great legacy at Clemson because we have three sisters that went there,” Judah said. “Now, we just want to start our own legacy at Clemson.”

The 6-2, 215-pound linebackers will certainly make their father proud, but they will also be planning on continuing the tradition of great Daniel High School players to come to Clemson.

“We are happy to join all of the great players that have gone from Daniel to Clemson, like Jarvis Jenkins and Nuk Hopkins,” Judah said. “It is an honor and just exciting also.”

The twins were not quite sure what to think when Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney called them into his office Thursday afternoon.

"After camp, Coach Swinney brought us into his office and he offered us,” J.D. said. “We committed soon after that. It was just me, my brother, Will Swinney because he is my best friend, and Coach Jeff ScottJeff Scott

. I know they have seen our film, and we worked out for them at camp, so it was more of a hope that we would get an offer and not a sure thing. But I thought we had a good chance.”

However, it didn’t talk long to confirm their commitment to Clemson.

“I wasn't really sure what was going on when he called us into his office, but I was excited when I heard the news,” Judah said. “We were both just really excited. We always knew Clemson was where we wanted to go, and we had talked to our dad previous about if something like this happened. So we committed right away. We are just going to work hard and try to win a state championship at Daniel this season."

The twins will graduate from Daniel in December of 2013 and enroll in Tri County Technical College in January of 2014, and will follow that up with enrollment at Clemson in January 2015.
