Jacksonville to Host 2007 ACC Football Title Game

GREENSBORO, N.C. ? Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford announced today that the ACC will extend its agreement with Jacksonville, Fla., to host the 2007 ACC Football Championship Game.

This year?s ACC Championship Game will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007, in Jacksonville Municipal Stadium (formerly Alltel Stadium) and will mark the third year that Jacksonville will host the ACC football title game.

In the league?s inaugural championship game in 2005, Florida State defeated Virginia Tech 27-22. This past season, in the second ACC football championship game, Wake Forest captured its first league football title since 1970, defeating Georgia Tech 9-6.

John Swofford, ACC Commissioner: ?We are pleased to extend our agreement with Jacksonville and the Gator Bowl Association to host the 2007 ACC Football Championship game. After discussions with our member schools, it was obvious that everyone has been delighted with Jacksonville?s hospitality throughout the first two years as well as the Gator Bowl Associations? management of the game. Our league has excellent relationships throughout Jacksonville and we look forward to continuing those relationships through the 2007 championship game festivities.?
