Tee Higgins is bigger and stronger, and when he arrives on campus in June, he has one goal.

Make the 2017 Clemson football team better.

The Knoxville (TN) native and Clemson signee couldn’t participate in his high school team’s spring practice and had to watch the Tigers from afar, so he’s been spending all of his time in the weight room.

“I've just really been working out in the gym and the weight room more than I've actually been on the field because the coaches told me I need to get bigger,” Higgins told TigerNet Tuesday afternoon. “I've been really busy in the gym putting in the work. I've also been on the field doing some good work when I can.”

His hard work is beginning to show as he’s visibly thicker and beginning to put on good weight.

“I've added some weight since my last football game. At the end of last season, I was 188, and now I'm up to about 193,” Higgins said.

With his senior year of high school nearly complete, Higgins is turning his attention to what lies ahead, and he said he’s excited about facing the new challenge that is college football.

“I'm looking forward to it,” he said. “Obviously, it's going to be totally new to me. It's a good thing that I've got a guy (Amari Rodgers) that I'll be rooming with that I know really well and that I can relate to so we can get through it together.”

When he officially joins the Clemson football team in June, he said he’ll be looking to learn from those around him, while also competing for a starting spot.

“That's my goal. That's every freshman's goal to go in and play, but I've got to put in the dirty work on and off the field,” he said. “I've just got to go in there and compete with all of the other guys ahead of me and learn from them. I'm coming to make plays. I'm just looking forward to helping Clemson get more wins. I'm looking forward to playing with the guys. They seem like some really good guys, so I'm just looking forward to everything.”

Despite not having key pieces from last year’s team, Higgins said he still believes Clemson can be one of the top-four teams in the country.

“Honestly, I personally think we can. Having Deshaun Watson was a big help, but we've just got to keep getting better in practice, and we can get back to the playoff,” he said.
