Four-star defensive back talks Clemson visit

Four-star defensive back Kyler McMichael has had a busy year, playing both offense and defense for his high school team and making a visit to some of the schools that have offered.

McMichael, a 185-pound class of 2018 defensive back out of Duluth (GA) Greater Atlanta Christian, has over a dozen offers and says that it is great, but can be stressful trying to make it to all of the schools.

This year McMichael has been to Georgia and Clemson and will be visiting Duke sometime this week with his family. He told TigerNet that he would rather stay closer to home and he says he knows his parents would like that too.

McMichael has offers from Arizona, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio St., Oklahoma, Penn St., South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin.

His area recruiter is Clemson defensive backs coach Mike Reed. What is McMichael’s relationship like with Coach Reed?

“It is really good. I saw them at Clemson's junior day, and I got to talk to him and Coach (Tony) Elliott,” said McMichael.

What are McMichael’s thoughts on the new facility?

“It is crazy,” McMichael said. “Something I have never seen before.”

McMichaal told TigerNet that he is a physical corner. He likes to play up front and press coverage and as a bigger defensive back is going to be physical with the receiver.

Clemson is definitely a top school for McMichael, he said. He loves everything it has to offer. He has a great relationship with the coaches, and it’s not too far away from home. He also knows two of the Tigers' recent commits (Chase Brice and Trevor Lawrence).

When does McMichael plan to make his final decision?

“I am starting to narrow my schools down now,” he said. “I will have my top five right before the season starts, and from there I will start narrowing it down to the school I want to go to. I will have my final choice mid-way through the season.”

McMichael also played running back this season for Greater Atlanta Christian, rushing for 1,416 yards and 15 touchdowns on 203 carries in 14 games.

One interesting thing people may not know about McMichael is that he actually started off playing basketball at the age of three and thought that would be the sport for him. He still plays today and is currently on his high school basketball team at Greater Atlanta Christian, but says he is definitely going to school for football.

McMichael told TigerNet that whatever program he chooses will be getting a very energetic player. He feels that he will bring life to the program because he is an encourager and is always going hard.
