Deon Cain "500 percent" committed after Clemson visit

Clemson coaches tell Cain he can be special with Deshaun Watson as his QB.

Most football prospects don’t commit without actually having seen a game in person at a prospective school. However two of Clemson’s most highly-touted 2015 commits took in their first Clemson home game this past Saturday.

The game was also a first for both Fruhmorgens.

Cain spoke with TigerNet Sunday afternoon as the trio traveled back to Tampa and said that the visit couldn’t have gone any better.

“The visit was great,” Cain told TigerNet shortly after departing Clemson. “Everything went good. I enjoyed every minute of the visit. Clemson’s entrance and seeing them run down the hill was exciting and I can’t wait to run down it. The game was outrageous I was impressed about a blowout.”

The 6-1, 190-pound receiver said that he paid special attention to quarterback Deshaun Watson’s performance. When Cain spoke with the Clemson coaches following the game they told him to imagine what he could do on the receiving end of some of Watson’s passes.

“I spent some time with Coach [Jeff] Scott, Coach [Tony] Elliott and Coach [Dabo] Swinney,” Cain said. “Their message to me was that I’ll be special in their offense especially with Deshaun throwing the ball. I think Deshaun is a straight beast.”

View Full Profile III, some national recruiting analysts have hinted that Cain’s status as a Clemson commit may be in jeopardy.

However, that’s simply not the case.

“I am 500-percent committed,” Cain said.

Cain plays quarterback for Tampa Bay Tech and as a sophomore, he completed 132-of-245 passes for 1,645 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 55 times for 232 yards and 3 touchdowns.

As a junior, Cain completed 120-of0245 passes for 1,945 yards and 13 touchdowns, while rushing for 731 yards and four scores on 143 carries and

Cain has accounted for 998 yards and six touchdowns through five games in 2014.
