Coach says Tigers have "very good shot" at SC's top prospect

December 7th is decision day for South Carolina’s most versatile player, and the Clemson Tigers are in perfect position to steal a recruit from the University of Georgia.

TigerNet spoke to Goose Creek head coach Chuck Reedy Thursday afternoon, and Reedy said he believes the Tigers are in great position with Terry heading in to his December decision.

“He will decide December 7th,” Reedy told TigerNet. “I haven’t asked and I won’t ask what that decision is. When and if he wants to tell me, he will. If he has something to ask me, he will. I think Clemson is definitely right in the mix. I think they have a very good shot.”

View Full Profile visited Terry earlier this week, and Reedy said that the visit went about as well as anyone could have hoped.

“It went very well,” Reedy said. “He’s got a very good relationship with Coach Elliot. Coach Morris has done a really good job of showing him how they are going to use him, which I think is important to him. I think it went as well as it could have gone.”

According to Reedy, one of the reasons Terry likes Clemson is because of the flexibility within Morris’ offense.

“I think Clemson is planning on using him as a running back and as a receiver,” he said. “One of his strengths obviously is that he’s so versatile. He can be strictly a running back or strictly a receiver, but Clemson because of what they do offensively has the ability to put him at receiver and move him to running back by motion and vice versa. I think that’s why they are so high on him.”

In 11 games his senior year, Terry carried the ball 93 times for 766 yards and 18 touchdowns and had 47 receptions for 775 yards and five touchdowns. He also returned nine kickoffs for average of 22.44 yards.

Reedy said that Terry isn’t only fast, but also strong which could lead to an extended career, not only in college but in the NFL.

“I think he’s a guy that can go to the next level if he stays healthy and continues to mature,” Reedy said. “He’s one of those rare guys that comes along that football is what he lives for. He is totally committed to being a great football player and he’s been that way since he started with us in the seventh grade. He’s been totally focused on that. Beyond that, the thing that makes him special is that he’s a guy that can obviously run very fast, but he’s also a guy that is very strong. He benches well over 300 pounds. He’s a 195 or 200-pound guy. He’s not just a fast receiver. He has the capability of being a strong, fast receiver or a strong, fast running back. He’s a very physical player.”
