Clemson in the lead for visiting corner |
The Clemson Tigers have picked up two commitments this week. Could a third be on the way?
Three-star defensive back
Juwuan Briscoe Juwuan Briscoe The Waldorf (MD) Thomas Stone prospect told TigerNet earlier this week that he is looking to see how the Tigers’ football program operates when he makes his first trip to Clemson on Saturday. “I will be going to Clemson this Saturday,” Briscoe said. “I'm just looking to have a fun experience. I want to learn more about the school and get a feel for the coaches and player and how they do everything.” Briscoe is also looking to build a relationship with defensive coordinator
Brent VenablesBrent Venables “I haven't talked to any other coaches besides Coach Reed,” Briscoe said. “I think he [Coach Venables] called my high school football coach. He was explaining everything to him and saying that he really liked me and can't wait for me to come down. I'm looking forward to meeting him and getting a feel for how he does things.” The 6-0, 185-pound prospect has offers from Maryland, N.C. State, Old Dominion, Rutgers, Toledo and West Virginia, but it’s the Tigers that stand atop that list. “I would say that Clemson is the leader right now as far as the schools,” Briscoe said. “Rutgers would probably be my number two. I will try to make a decision this weekend. It may be possible, but it's something that I would still have to think about it.” Despite never making a trip to Clemson, Briscoe’s relationship with defensive backs coach
Mike ReedMike Reed “I talked to Coach Reed earlier this week,” Briscoe said. “We just talked about everything. It's not just about football anymore. It's personal things. He said that Clemson is very high on me. They are really ready for me to commit. They want me to commit.” Briscoe described himself as the type of player that gets job done, making early playing time a priority. “I would say corner. He [Reed] said that once I learn everything and everything starts clicking that I'll be all over the field doing everything on defense,” Briscoe said. “Actually, coach told me that once I get everything going, he's throwing me in there because I'm playing. That's really exciting.” As a junior, Briscoe spent the majority of his time at running back, rushing for 1,023 yards and 14 touchdowns on 162 carries. However, he managed to nab two intercepts, returning one for a touchdown in his limited time on defense.
