out of Buford (GA)- the No. 2 outside linebacker in the country and No. 4 prospect in the Peach State- became Clemson’s eighth commitment for 2014 when he committed Wednesday afternoon.

Rogers brought his family to visit the campus for the first time, and he told TigerNet that he just felt that he belonged at Clemson.

“I decided to commit because of just how well I fit into the university,” Rogers told TigerNet Wednesday night. “The atmosphere in football is incredible. Clemson is a program that is on the rise and I want to be a part of that.”

Rogers’ parents were sold on Clemson’s academics after a tour of Vickery Hall.

“My family just wanted me to go to wherever I felt was best for me, but from the looks and their reaction I think they were pretty excited and proud of me,” Rogers said. “I know they were extremely happy and liked how the academic process at Clemson works.”

Rogers said that he is excited about the coaching that he will receive on and off the field at Clemson.

“The coaches are incredible. They will not only turn you into a great football player, but into an even better person,” he said. “I know that I will be successful when I leave Clemson University.”

The 6-2, 218-pound prospect says that for all the good he does on the field, he is an even better person off the field.

“They’re getting a person who is definitely going to stay out of trouble, stay on top of their grades, and will be there for his teammates,” he said. “And, I’m a decent linebacker on the field.”

After Rogers visited for the Orange & White Game, his top five were Georgia, Clemson, Tennessee, Auburn, and South Carolina; however after making his commitment official he doesn’t plan on taking any more visits.

During his junior season, Rogers accounted for over 100 tackles, 12 sacks, 30 tackles for loss and seven interceptions in Buford’s state title campaign.

Rogers became the fourth commitment out of the state of Georgia and will take on fellow commit Deshaun Watson Deshaun Watson
