On the loss

I think special teams we didn’t show up. Offensively we didn’t show up. I hate it for the fans. The fans showed up and the defense showed up but we got offense, defense, and special teams. Two out of three didn’t show up. Duke had hung around all year… against Wake. They hung around against Florida State. They hung around against Maryland. We couldn’t finish the job.

On not being able to put away the Blue Devils

We couldn’t do anything offensively to generate separation. We had plenty of chances. Defense gave us plenty of chances. Special teams we had the errors on the punt and on the kickoff that gave them points or it doesn’t get down to that stage. Give them credit they did a good job hanging around but as far as us finishing them off and playing smart we didn’t do it.

On the offensive execution

Yeah. It’s poor. You saw it. Other teams got in that position and finished the job. We couldn’t.

On not playing for overtime at the end of the game

We had a chance to hit a receiver and he got knocked down. (Did he fall down?) No. He didn’t fall down. He got knocked down but again that’s part of it. We are trying to win the game. They had enough timeouts to stop it and make us punt. So we needed to make a first down.

On being one of the most disappointing losses

Oh yeah. There’s no doubt. It’s disappointing. It would rank up there with the top couple.

On defense playing good but the offense can not get it going

It’s very frustrating. That’s what you want. You want a defense that will give you a lot of opportunities and at-bats. We are not being able to capitalize on them offensively and that’s a shame because we had a lot of chances.

On this loss adding more fuel to the USC game

I don’t know if you can add any more fuel to that fire. It would be hard. There is fuel there anyway.
