, one of the main targets of the Clemson coaching staff, told TigerNet Thursday evening that he hopes to have a decision within the next two months and that he has pared his list to a top seven.

Kelly was on his way to the Elite 11 quarterback camp at Ohio St., which starts tomorrow, when he told TigerNet of his time frame.

“I am going to make a decision within two months at the latest,” Kelly said. “It might even be sooner. We are thinking about taking one more visit. I want to commit just because it is important for a quarterback to commit before the season. I want to concentrate on my senior season, and I want to be able to work with all of my receivers. I want to get comfortable with them, and concentrate more on that than on college.”

Kelly said he hasn’t chosen a school for his final visit.

“We just really aren’t sure yet,” he said. “We are looking over everything, and we are checking out all of the schools on the internet.”

Kelly said that in order to make the right decision, he has narrowed his list down to his top seven, and the Tigers made the cut.

I have my list of top schools,” he said. “They are Clemson, Buffalo, Syracuse, Florida St., Alabama, Purdue and Michigan St. I want to go to a school where the coaching staff wants to win, but where there are also great academics and the coaching staff wants the kids to graduate. I am looking for a family atmosphere as well. And distance from home doesn’t matter; I am going to go anywhere I think I can fit in with the coaches and the offense.”

Kelly is the nephew of NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly.

As a junior, Kelly ran 86 times for 1,057 yards and 15 touchdowns. He completed 137-of-249 passes for 2,159 yards with 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
