Cain and McCloud highlight weekend visitors

With National Signing Day less than two weeks away the Clemson football staff is putting the finishing touches on the 2015 recruiting class with one final round of official visits.

Last weekend was the primary official visit weekend for the 2015 commits and prospects who didn’t enroll early and it turned out to be very beneficial for head coach Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney

and the Clemson Tigers.

Swinney and the staff hosted several commits and two uncommitted prospects, including 4-star defensive back Mark FieldsMark Fields

from Charlotte (NC) Hough who ended his recruitment Sunday afternoon before leaving campus.

Clemson won’t add any commitments this weekend but can cement their place with two of the Tigers highest rated prospects – Tampa (FL) Tampa Bay Tech wide receiver Deon CainDeon Cain

III.

Cain was supposed to visit last weekend but a freak automobile accident Thursday night prevented he and his mother from traveling to South Carolina, thus postponing their visit until this weekend. The 5-star prospect will bring along McCloud for the visit.

TigerNet spoke with McCloud’s family late Thursday, and despite rumors to the contrary McCloud will be in Clemson this weekend. One national recruiting site has continually stirred the pot concerning McCloud – citing visits all over the Southeaster Conference – but McCloud’s father says “Ray is 100 percent committed to Clemson and will be up there Friday.”

scheduled his official visit this weekend due to a wrestling tournament last weekend.

Cervenka said that he is excited to spend the weekend in Clemson.

“I'm just looking forward to being in Clemson and I'm going up there for my official visit,” Cervenka told TigerNet Thursday night.

There will also be three preferred walk-on commits on hand this weekend – Chapel Hill (NC) offensive lineman Logan Tisch, Naples (FL) First Baptist Academy offensive lineman Seth Penner and Greenville (SC) Christ Church punter Michael Batson – the son of strength and conditioning coach Joey Batson.

Tisch – a North Carolina Shrine Bowl participant – said that he wants to see where he will be attending classes as well as what it’s like to be a Division I student athlete.

“I'm just mostly looking forward to seeing everyone that's a part of the Clemson program now because they are going be my new family for the next couple of years,” Tisch told TigerNet Friday morning. “I want to see more of the academic facilities just so I have a better idea on where I'm going to be going to class and everything. The highlight for me will most likely be just hanging with my future team and getting to know everyone a little better.”
