ACC Network to expand coverage of the ACC

Charlotte, NC (accnetwork.com) – The ACC Network announced today its mission to expand its coverage of ACC Football and ACC Men’s Basketball telecasts. Through a variety of platforms, the ACC Network will now distribute ACC content through live event streaming, original programming via a digital network and having historical archives available to fans. Expanded platforms also include official Conference mobile applications and social media platforms.

“The future for the ACC is extremely bright as we will have more content available for fans and more exposure for our teams than ever before,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “Our schools and league are positioned in the best way possible as it relates to traditional television broadcasts and the ever-changing platforms made possible through new technology.”

Through an agreement with ESPN, the ACC Network will continue to syndicate ACC Football games on local television station affiliates throughout the ACC’s territory. With the ability to now go outside the ACC footprint, the ACC Network has also added coverage in over 25 new markets. In addition, every ACC Network game will be available live on theACC.com as well as on the official ACC mobile applications and outside of ACC territory on the ESPN3 platform.

“This partnership with ESPN and the ACC will result in more coverage for ACC games, in more places and on more platforms than at any time in the history of the league.” said Ken Haines, President and CEO of Raycom Sports.

ACC Football games scheduled for the first three weeks include Virginia Tech hosting Appalachian State on September 3rd, followed by Rutgers at North Carolina on September 10th and Duke at Boston College on September 17th. Kickoff time for all ACC Network football games is 12:30 pm.

Calling the action for the ACC Network will be Steve Martin and Tim Brant who will split play-by-play duties. They will be joined in the booth by veteran color analyst Dave Archer. Sideline reporting will be handled by 25-year ACC veteran Mike Hogewood.

Preceding each ACC Network telecast is the McAlister’s Deli ACC Blitz, a new show for 2011 hosted by Danielle Trotta and two-time ACC Coach of the Year Tommy Bowden. The live studio show will feature a look around the league and preview the upcoming ACC Network Game of the Week.

For the first time, the ACC Network will produce ACC Football games for FOX Sports that are set to air on Regional Cable Networks throughout the ACC footprint.

Future announcements are also planned to highlight a number of other ACC Network platforms, including enhancements to theACC.com, the official Conference mobile applications, the ACC Vault and the ACC Digital Network.
