The four-star running back out of Oakley (CA) Freedom has over a dozen offers from East Coast schools with the latest coming from the Clemson Tigers.

Mixon told TigerNet that he had been in contact with the Clemson coaches recently, and then offensive coordinator Chad MorrisChad Morris

informed him he had an offer from the Tigers.

“I called them and then that’s when they offered,” Mixon told TigerNet Tuesday night. “The coach that offered me from Clemson was Coach Morris, the quarterbacks’ coach. And, then I talked to Coach [Tony] Elliott, the running backs’ coach, today and he was just excited about having me there at Clemson.”

Mixon is receiving a lot of attention from ACC and SEC schools and he said that he won’t mind if he has to play football on the other side of the country.

“The going away from home part isn’t a factor at all,” he said. “I’ve got probably 15 offers from the East Coast so that’s pretty big.”

Mixon doesn’t know a lot about the Tigers, but he does know that Clemson is a program that is notorious for speedy and athletic skill players

“Mainly, what I know about Clemson is that they are always fast and athletic,” Mixon said. “They’ve got all of the skills. They have a history of great running backs and wide receivers that come out of there. Pretty much that’s about it.”

Playing at the next level is important to the 6-foot-2, 210-pound back, but more important is getting a good education.

“I’m going to major in business management so I’m looking for a school with good academic support and a program that will get me to the next level,” he said. “I also want to go somewhere that I can build good relationships with the coaches. I really hope that they have a good program and get me to where I need to be.”

Mixon has over 30 offers, including offers from Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Ole Miss., Notre Dame, Ohio St., and most of the Pac-12, but he said he doesn’t know which schools will receive official visits.

“It’s a serious offer [from Clemson], but I really don’t know where I’m going to take my official visits,” he said.

As a junior, Mixon rushed for 1,443 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also accounted for 341 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
