Wake at Clemson Game Second-Latest Contest Between Unbeaten ACC teams |
CLEMSON -- Second-ranked Wake Forest and 10th-ranked Clemson will join select company when they square off in Saturday afternoon’s battle of unbeaten Atlantic Coast Conference basketball teams.
The 3:30 p.m. game on ABC between the Demon Deacons (15-0) and Tigers (16-0) at Clemson’s Littlejohn Coliseum marks the seventh time a pair of unbeaten ACC teams has squared off during the month of January. It will be the first such meeting since Jan. 2, 2001, when fourth-ranked Wake Forest (11-0) played host to eighth-ranked Virginia (10-0). The combined 31 wins between the two teams are the second-highest total accrued in game between two undefeated ACC teams, bettered only by the 33 combined wins by top-ranked North Carolina (17-0) and third-ranked Duke (16-0) prior to their Jan. 18, 1986, match-up in the inaugural game of the Tar Heels’ Dean E.
