Reports: Purnell to leave Clemson for Depaul |
CLEMSON -- DePaul will introduce Oliver Purnell as its new men's basketball coach at a 2:30 PM EST news conference Tuesday according to several published reports.
The Chicago Tribune reports Purnell met with Depaul officials Monday in Chicago and the two sides agreed to a seven-year contract worth more than $15 million that includes the buyout of his Clemson contract. Under Purnell Clemson finished the 2009-2010 season with a 21-11 record, its fourth consecutive 20-win season. It is the first time Clemson has had four consecutive 20-win seasons in its history. The Blue Devils finished 8-23 after firing coach Jerry Wainwright mid-season.
