Men's Basketball To Host Club Ventspils in Final Exhibition

CLEMSON - The Clemson men's basketball team will host Club Ventspils, from Latvia, in its final exhibition tune-up Thursday at 7:30 PM in Littlejohn Coliseum.

The Tigers won their exhibition opener claiming an 83-76 decision over the California All-Stars on Nov. 2. Sophomore Pasha Bains led all scorers in the game with 29 points, hitting 11 of 16 field goals, including 7 of 10 from behind the 3-point arc. Junior Will Solomon added 21 points.

Club Ventspils is 2-1 on its tour of the United States. It has beaten Richmond (97-95) and East Carolina (119-87), but lost to N.C. State (82-86). The team plays at Wake Forest Wednesday night before the Thursday meeting with the Tigers. Club Ventspils won the Latvian Championship in 1999-2000 and plays in Saporta Cup, the third largest league in Europe, and in the North Europe Basketball League, established by former NBA player Sarunas Marciulionis.

Clemson opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 17 against Hartford at Littlejohn Coliseum.
