got a big 4-star recruiting target early Friday morning.

Donte Grantham – the No. 66 ranked player in the country - out of Chatham (VA) Hargrave Military Academy announced his commitment Friday morning via Twitter, joining combo guard Gabe DeVoe as the second member of the 2014 class.

In an exclusive one-on-one with TigerNet, Grantham said that he knew Clemson was the place for him when he returned home from his un-official visit to the Clemson vs. Wake Forest game last weekend.

“I knew Clemson is where I wanted to go earlier this week,” Grantham told TigerNet. “When I came back home from my visit on Sunday, I sat down and thought about it and on Monday I knew that Clemson is where I wanted to go. I was in Clemson for an unofficial visit last week. It was great. I went to the football game and it was really cool. I had a lot of fun.”

The 6-8, 200 pound small forward has been wavering on a decision since the summer, but with offers from West Virginia, Cincinnati, Michigan, Texas, Miami, and Marquette, he decided to attend Hargrave and take his time to make the right decision.

Brownell and his staff’s consistent contact and the family atmosphere ultimately sold Grantham on Clemson.

“I just love everything about it. It’s just family up at Clemson,” Grantham said. “I love the atmosphere. I love the coaches. I just love everything about Clemson. Clemson has also been there since day one and that means a lot to me. Also, playing in the ACC is something that I’ve always dreamed about. Playing in the ACC is second to none.”

However, Grantham decided that it was time to end the process with Friday’s announcement.

“I just wanted to finally make it known where I was going,” Grantham said. “I knew where I wanted to go and it was time to make the announcement. Now, I want to focus on getting better and making my team better.”

Grantham said that Brownell can’t wait to get him to into his system at Clemson.

“I talked to Coach Brownell after I made my decision and he was really excited. He’s ready to get me down there and get this thing going.”

Grantham, a native of Martinsburg (WV), was the state’s player of the year in 2013 after averaging 18.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.
