Updated: Tigers Continue To Advance In Baseball Polls

by -

DURHAM, N.C.--Cal State Fullerton maintained its hold on the No 1 spot in Baseball America's weekly college baseball rankings. The Titans have won 17 of their last 19 games.

Meanwhile, Clemson continued to climb back up the rankings. The Tigers are No. 5 this week after spending last week in seventh. Clemson enjoyed a 4-1 last week, which included a victory over highly-ranked South Carolina and a three-game ACC series sweep of Maryland.

Alabama continued its surge in the rankings, rolling into the Top 10 at No. 9. The Crimson Tide won a series at South Carolina, which slipped from No. 2 to No. 7, to tie the Gamecocks for first place in the Southeastern Conference at 9-3. Alabama won a series against then-No. 1 Mississippi State the previous weekend.

Southern California re-entered the rankings at No. 20. The Trojans have won seven of their last 11 games and lead the Pacific-10 Conference at 7-2. College of Charleston enters the Top 25 at No. 21 after a 4-0 week that included a win against No. 25 Winthrop. The Cougars have won 15 of their last 17 games.

San Diego and Baylor each won conference series to move back into the rankings at No. 23 and 24.

The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of April 9 and do not include ties.
