Harvey Drafted by Marlins in the Second Round

Clemson, SC - Clemson junior utility player Kris Harvey (Catawba, NC) was taken by the Florida Marlins in the second round (64th overall pick) of the Major League draft Tuesday. Harvey is tied for second in the nation in homers (24) and has 69 RBIs along with a .342 batting average. On the mound, the First-Team All-ACC player is 5-4 with a 5.52 ERA in 13 starts (62.0 innings pitched) this season. Harvey is the son of former Major League closer Bryan Harvey, who also played for the Marlins from 1993-95. The elder Harvey totaled 177 career saves in nine seasons.
