LOUISIANA ST. NO. 1 IN FINAL 2009 COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER POLL

TUCSON, Ariz. - Louisiana St. (56-17), fresh from winning the College
World Series with an 11-4 win over Texas, finished as the No. 1 team
in the land in "Collegiate Baseball" newspaper's final NCAA Division I
baseball poll of 2009.

The Tigers were ranked No. 1 in "Collegiate Baseball's" pre-season
poll released last December and finished the season on top as LSU won
two of three against the Longhorns in the championship series in
capturing the sixth national baseball title in school history.

The Tigers finished the season winning 15 of their last 16 games and
didn't commit an error in five of the six games they played at the
College World Series.

The "Collegiate Baseball" newspaper poll is the oldest college
baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1957 college baseball
season.
