Clemson, SC -

Thirty-two home games, 24 games against 2010 NCAA Tournament teams, and four games at Fluor Field in Greenville, SC highlight Clemson’s 55-game, 2011 regular-season baseball schedule, released Friday. The Tigers will also play South Carolina in a three-game series at three different sites over one weekend during the first weekend of March.

Twenty-four of Clemson’s 55 regular-season contests (44 percent) will be against teams that participated in the 2010 NCAA Tournament. Six of the 25 non-conference matchups will be against 2010 NCAA Tourney teams, games against South Carolina (3), Elon (2), and Coastal Carolina (1). The Tigers will face conference foes Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, N.C. State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech, also teams that played in the 2010 NCAA Tourney. Clemson will not face Miami (FL) during the regular season.

The Tigers will open the season with a three-game series against Eastern Michigan at Doug Kingsmore Stadium from February 18-20. The two teams have not met since 1976. The following weekend, the Tigers will play in the First Pitch Invitational at two different sites. The Tigers will host Cincinnati and Charleston Southern at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on February 25,26 before traveling to Greenville, SC to take on Michigan State on February 27.

After Clemson hosts Wofford on March 2, the Tigers will face rival South Carolina three times. On Friday night, March 4, Clemson will play at South Carolina. The following day, the two teams will meet at Fluor Field. Then on Sunday, March 6, the Tigers and Gamecocks will conclude their regular-season series at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Starting with the three-game series against South Carolina, the Tigers will play 15 games against teams that played in the 2010 NCAA Tournament over a 21-game stretch.

Clemson will open up league play against Virginia (March 11-13) and Duke (March 18-20) at home, then the Tigers will take to the road for the first weekend series of the season at N.C. State in late March. After playing at North Carolina the following weekend, three of the next four series will be at home, series against Maryland, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech sandwiched around a road series at Boston College. The Wake Forest series will start a nine-game homestand. Clemson will close its regular-season slate with two series on the road, at Virginia Tech and Florida State.

The Tigers will also play non-conference, midweek home games against Elon (2), Coastal Carolina (1), Davidson (1), Furman (1), Georgia (1), Presbyterian College (1), and Western Carolina (1). Clemson will play non-conference, midweek road games at Georgia and Western Carolina along with a neutral-site game at Fluor Field against Presbyterian College on March 16.

After final exams, Clemson will play a doubleheader at home against Gardner-Webb on Saturday, May 7. The following afternoon, Clemson will travel to Boiling Springs, NC to play at Gardner-Webb. It will be the first-ever matchup between the two teams away from Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Tigers will also play Furman at Fluor Field on May 10.

The top-eight teams in the ACC standings will participate in the ACC Tournament at Durham (NC) Bulls Athletic Park from May 25-29. It will be the seventh time the ACC Tournament is held in Durham.
