Clemson Ranked #16 in Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll

by -

Clemson is ranked #16 in Collegiate Baseball’s 2010 preseason poll, released on Monday. It marks the 22nd consecutive season that Clemson has earned a top-25 national ranking by one of the three major polls. Texas is atop the Collegiate Baseball poll. Other ACC teams ranked in the top 25 include #3 Virginia, #6 Georgia Tech, #7 Florida State, #12 Miami (FL), and #13 North Carolina, meaning six of the top-16 teams are from the ACC. No other conference has more than two teams ranked in the top 19 of the preseason poll.

The Tigers had a 44-22 overall record and 19-11 ACC regular-season mark in 2009, and they advanced to the Tempe (AZ) Super Regional after capturing the Clemson (SC) Regional title. Clemson returns eight starters in the field and 20 lettermen. The Tigers will open the 2010 season on February 19 against Miami (OH) at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
