Clemson No. 23 In Baseball America Poll

DURHAM, N.C.-The Pacific-10 Conference could be in for a banner year in 2008. Four Pac-10 teams grace the top 10 in Baseball America's preseason rankings, led by No. 1 UCLA and No. 2 Arizona. The Bruins, who rebounded from an 8-14 start in 2007 to reach a super-regional, claim the preseason No. 1 spot for the first time ever. Their previous highest preseason ranking was third in 1987. Two-time defending champion Oregon State starts the year at No. 7, and fellow 2007 College World Series participant Arizona State checks in at No. 9.

Two other conferences match the Pac-10 with four teams in the top 25. The Atlantic Coast Conference's quartet is led by No. 5 North Carolina, the national runner-up the last two seasons. No. 10 Miami, No. 17 Virginia and No. 23 Clemson join the Tar Heels in the rankings.

No. 6 Missouri leads the four ranked teams from the Big 12. The others are Baylor (No. 15), Texas (16) and Texas A&M (22). The Southeastern Conference, which boasts the third- and fourth-ranked teams in Vanderbilt and Mississippi, places three teams in the top 25, as does Conference USA, led by last year's preseason No. 1, Rice. The Owls open 2008 ranked 14th.
