Clemson linebacker commit ready to see rivalry game against South Carolina

Clemson linebacker Bryton Constantin is just a few days away from stepping on campus to begin his collegiate career, and even though the calendar says May, he's already looking forward to November.

TigerNet is reaching out to the remainder of the 2019 recruiting class for a final interview before they arrive in June, and have a special Q&A with each player.

Constantin, a 2019 linebacker out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, signed with the Tigers back in December of 2018 after being recruited by non-other than Brent Venables. Constantin measures in at 6’2, 207 pounds, with a vertical of 32.5, and a forty of 4.78. Despite suffering a knee injury in February, Bryton is expected to move in on schedule and begin his training with the Tigers, although he is expected to redshirt his freshman year.

Q: When are you moving in?

A: I enroll on June 23rd, that’s the day I’ll be there. I’m coming to work the camps May 31st through June 15th. Then I come home for about five days, and then I enroll. We are leaving my house on June 21st, but then I enroll on June 23rd.

Q: What are you most looking forward to?

A: I’m looking forward to change - there’s not one particular thing I’m looking forward to. It’s just change and being able to grow up by myself. I guess, just grow into a man like I know they are going to make me do.

Q: What have you been doing to get ready for all of this?

A: My injury took a big toll in that. Usually, I would be speed training, weight training, doing all of that. Which I am, like I said, I just started running two weeks ago. I’ve been on the weights since my first week out of surgery, and I’ve been running. I’m just getting everything back into shape. I’m really just not sitting at home all day. I’m always doing something productive because I know that’s how it’s going to be when I get there.

Q: Have you received a copy of the play-book?

A: Yes, I got a copy of the playbook, I got everything. I know it’s a lot. When I look at it I just try to take my time and learn it step by step, play by play, formations, everything. I know it’s going to be hard, I know it’s a lot. I try and stay positive. I know this is only going to help me. It’s not going to make me worse. It’s going to help me get on the field faster. I try to study it as much as I can.

Q: Do you know who your roommate is?

A: Yes, Keith Maguire. Oh yeah, I’ve met him. The day I committed was the first day I met him. Me and him are good, it’s gonna be perfect.

Q: What number will you be wearing?

A: 21, It’s the number I wore in high school

Q: What are the coaches telling you?

Nothing expect to keep working as hard as I can while I’m here. Also, to be ready when I get there, be ready to compete. Even though I am not going to be 100 percent when I get there, just be ready to compete.

Q: Is there one game you are looking forward to even if you do redshirt your freshman year?

A: Yeah, well I know I’m redshirting this year, so, I know I’m probably not going to be traveling, not going to be playing or anything like that. But even if I don’t go to the game, it’s always a blast watching them play South Carolina. Even though it’s at South Carolina and I probably won’t be there, I know winning that game is going to be huge for us. That game is probably going to be the best game. But also from my aspect, it’s probably going to be the first game. My nerves are going to be rushing. Even though I’m probably not going to touch the field my nerves are going to be rushing. Just running down that hill with all of those people around us, it’s going to be great.
