The big-time offers for Miami (FL) Central running back Dalvin Cook are starting to roll in.

The 2014 prospect got an offer from Southern Cal last week, joining a list that already includes Miami (Fla.), LSU and Florida St.

The one that the 5-11, 192-pounder really wants, however, is the one that might seal the deal if and when he receives it – an offer from Clemson. He said he heard from the Clemson coaches last week, and expects to see new defensive coordinator and recruiter for that area Brent Venables sometime next week.

“I haven’t heard from them since last Monday, but they told me they will be here next Wednesday,” Cook told TigerNet. “As soon as they offer, I am going to tell them I am going to commit right there. They are my number one school since I started watching C.J. Spiller when he was there. Once I saw him and Clemson, I was hooked on them.”

Cook turned in an impressive sophomore campaign, gaining over 900 yards and scoring nine touchdowns while averaging nine yards per carry. He did so while splitting time with friend and fellow 2014 running back Joseph Yearby, who recently committed to Florida St.

Cook told TigerNet that both he and Yearby want to make their commitments and stick by them despite all of the offers and attention.

“We are both getting new offers every week,” he said. “That is just a part of the recruiting process. But I am sticking by my number one, and that is what he said he is going to do. We know we could wind up playing against each other, and might have a little contact before the game when Clemson and FSU play. It would be fun playing against each other.”

Cook said Clemson is his firm number one, Southern Cal is in his second spot and Miami holds spot number three.

“When USC offered me last week that was crazy,” he said. “That came out of nowhere. That school is known for running backs. It’s a plus going to Miami because they are a young team and they are rebuilding. If you are young and freshman, they will play you.”

Georgia, Michigan State, Central Florida and Minnesota were at his school last week. LSU, Florida State, and Alabama have also stopped by this spring.

Cook said that his summer schedule is already filling up with places he plans to visit.

“I am planning on taking a visit this summer and coming up to Clemson for the camps,” he said. “I also plan on going to FSU, Auburn, and back to Miami.”
