From Naple News:
Grant Redhead, who coached Watkins at South Fort Myers, said the arrest was out of character for his former star wideout. Redhead said Watkins had only one issue in his four-year high school career: he didn’t turn in paperwork at the beginning of his senior year and missed one practice.“He never even got a referral here,” Redhead said. “College is a learning environment, and he learned a rough lesson.”
Knowing Watkins, Redhead doesn’t expect legal trouble to be a recurring theme at Clemson.
“They’re a good (coaching) staff there with good kids,” Redhead said of the Tigers. “They’ll straighten it out. Sammy will accept whatever punishment they hand down. They’ll deal with the problem and move on.”
