Pike set to announce Wednesday, end grueling recruiting process

Dixie Heights (Edgewood, KY) quarterback Zeke Pike will announce his college choice Wednesday afternoon at his school in order to put an end to the madness surrounding his recruitment. Pretty heady stuff for a player that was a running back just a few short years ago. Full Story »

I'd rather have Chad Kelly***

It appears that Pike's raw ability is much greater.***

If Pike selects Clemson, do we then stop recruiting Kelly? That could be a problem for ONE of them.

Pike is the real deal and has a huge upside

Apr 19, 2011, 3:24 PM

especially considering he is still very much learning the QB position. Coach Morris could do a lot with this kid.

He definitely is the real deal, with great size and arm strength. He's also very coachable.

It's awesome that we are in his final 8 but I've heard from several different people who are in the recruiting business that we're a long shot at best.

I still think we end up with a good QB like Kelly or Lambert.

With the #1 Wide recievers class in the country signed.....

You have to believe that gives us a d@mn good chance.

I don't keep up with recruiting much, but I did read somewhere recently that Pike is expected to choose between Auburn and Tennessee.......how close to accurate that is--we'll find out soon

I've heard the same (that he will stay in the SEC), with the possibility of Michigan having a good shot too. I do think it's cool we're at least in the final 8 though.

No need to get our hopes up though, let's look forward to landing a good QB like Kelly, Lambert or Voytik and be happy that we have Tajh and promising young backups.

If this is wrong though, I will be ecstatic for us to have landed him. I'm not saying I know where he'll go, just what I've heard from multiple sources (who could be wrong, you never know).

you always see kids that commit this early take officials

Apr 19, 2011, 4:29 PM

later on down the road to "make sure they made the right decision because it's one of the most important decisions they've ever made in their lives and they want to make sure that they will feel comfortable and 'at home' for the next 4 years." Tavaris Barnes was one of these, and we landed him :)

I wouldn't read too much into a commitment yet. Especially if he chooses say, Aubarn and we end up waxing them 45-17 in the valley this year ;)

go tigers.

And his dad agrees so check must be in the bank. Auburn will not live down the pay Dad for play stigma but just may never have to pay a price for it.
