Thompson does the dirty work, lets others take the praise

Defensive tackle Brandoon Thompson says he knows who has to do the dirty work on the Clemson defense, and that's fine with him. He just wants to win. Full Story »

The Fridge, Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley. No glory?

I think Thompson might have a misperception about the lack of glory for DTs. There's plenty of glory for good DTs.

Household name, DT, Ndamukong Suh was a Heisman finalist and the #2 overall NFL draft pick last year. DT Gerald McCoy was the #3 pick, with no other defensive players picked ahead of them-- just Sam Bradford.

The year before, household name DT, BJ Raji was the #9 pick, with only one other defensive player (a DE) picked ahead of him.

In 2008, household name TD, Glenn Dorsey was the #5 NFL pick. The only defensive player ahead of him was DE, Chris Long.

And what Clemson fan didn't know and appreciate guys like Jenkins or The Fridge?

Go get some glory and a big fat paycheck!

his point was that they don't get as much attention

and its true! He didn't say there weren't good DT's. No doubt there have been good DT who have been drafted early. but who of those do you hear about in papers and on sports news?? you could argue suh gets coverage, but not that much. Everyone talks about QBs WR's DB's DE's LB's. it's a fact. Yes there is talented DT's. But they do not get publicity like other positions. What he is saying is dead on
