Question about seating.

Does a 3 year old have to have a ticket or can he lap seat? Anyone know the rules on this?

Over 2 needs a ticket but I seriously doubt they would give you a hard time

They will probably let you in carrying a small to average size 3 year old.

Some things you may want to consider: If the weather is really hot, and / or your 3 year old is the least bit hyper, don't expect to sit in your seat very much. Seating is pretty tight in Death Valley without adding in an extra body -> so having a hyper 3 year old squeezed in could easily detract from the experience of those sitting around you.

Last year we carried our 5 year old in. She is small

Doesn't weigh much (40lbish). I carried her in, walked right in. They didnt really make an attempt to figure out how old she was. She sat on my lap and when we stood she did on our seats. They didn't give us any grief.
