The coaches have earned the benefit of the doubt based on their results. If they think KB gives them the best chance to win then so be it. I'd rather lose a game then stunt a young players long term growth.

many kids come in ready to play right away..see winston at fsu, watson here at clemson. if a kids ready let him have at it..i get that bryant is a good kid and never complained but if a freshman is playing better than he is let the freshman start

the calls this staff makes. Whoever wins the job I hope the backups get some meaningful snaps since all these guys have little to no experience.

They actually would. The problem is that KB has - and Dabo's been very careful to couch it this way - been substantially better through the first half of fall practice.
People I've talked to say it's no BS, that it's honestly, legitimately been KB that's shown (by far) the most consistency and greatest command of the offense.
Somebody was going to make a hard move and really show some stuff to even challenge him, and to date, all three of the freshman had flashed some stuff but nobody had really separated. So it really was KB, and then three still-kinda-raw-and-clumsy froshes all in a muddle.
Sounds like HJ may finally be making that move to separate from the other kids. But I don't think there's any great sense of urgency on the part of the coaching staff to replace Kelly Bryant, for the plain and simple reason that they sincerely do think they can win with him under center. Actually Etienne appearing when he did could be a Godsend for Bryant, because speed option is going to be a big feature with such a big, mobile QB and having a wing-back (especially one from an option background like Etienne is, so he already has the ball-handling and footwork down pat) with take-it-to-the-house 4.3-type speed is going to be huge as far as effectively running the speed option goes. If the opposing D crashes down and takes away Bryant, you've just sprung that guy. If they stay disciplined and sit on the wingback, Bryant just gashes you up the gut for eight or ten a pop. Bad.
I can promise you Kelly Bryant is likely loving him some Etienne right now, whatever. It really frees up KB to be KB.

I'm a big fan of KB and wish him to succeed. I don't like people doubting the coaches. They make mistakes, yes, but they have more than proven themselves and earned our trust. Heck, I don't even like people not giving KB a chance. He's a tremendous athlete. However, I have also said all along that the best QB should be the guy. I don't see a Cole/DW4 situation here. People need to back off of the ledge. People like Dabo learn from mistakes and get better at making decisions. What if someone kept bringing up something stupid you did years ago as if it applies today? I just don't see this staff making the same mistake.

I went to the spring game. A Watson clone was not waiting the wings behind KB in that game. Modern QBs are field generals that know the system and don't get ambushed. Bryant is an exceptional athlete with the most knowledge of the system. Many folks on Tnet like to ride a horse facing the rear?
