The NFL is looking everywhere for those 210+ pound-plus LB/DB hybrids you can line up at nickel or strongside LB and there simply aren't many of them. DoD has prototype physical measureables for all that (he runs 4.4, among other things) but he simply wasn't that natural in coverage...he's worked his tail off at improving that, to the point that even Hunter Renfrow has noted aloud he hasn't caught a pass on DoD for awhile.
Considering the way the guy has always closed on the ball - he's an absolute Doberman - it looks like his so-called "contract" year here in college could well be a very productive one. If he's gotten to the point he doesn't have to come off the field on third down and in nickel situations, look out, because that's where his NFL stock will start skyrocketing.
