I thought he did good at WR. Needed to work on ball security and his hands need to improve but he has the moves.
IMO his biggest issue is that Rodgers and Powell are better WRs. I was expecting big things out of Powell this year, he was impressive last year. With Rodgers drawing rave reviews and the elephant Hunter out there we're stacked at slot WRs.
Don't get me wrong RR can be a starting WR for Clemson without doubt but he needs to show he improved his hands and security to replace Scott. Luckily he already has the physical tools to be a very good CB. I think he'll succeed either way.

Doubt it. A 5'9"-5'10" CB is not sought after

He has more NFL potential as a slot WR. He just needs a solid couple of seasons. I could see him in a Sproles-like role.

3 of last year's Pro Bowl CBs were 5'10".

All other things being equal, taller is better, but all other things are usually not equal.

sorry, I have to disagree. The kid is an amazing athlete and as explosive and fluid a runner as you will see, but his hands and ball skills are hit and miss. He will make an amazing over the head grab in stride, then drop and easy swing pass on the next play. I have yet to see him put it all together and have a complete game in his two years here. He would have decent games against lesser competition, but was non existent in all 4 playoff games. Great players step up in the big ones.
from the little I saw of him as a corner in HS, he was lock down, physical, and glued to his man. I saw him decleat a TE 2x his size and shut down elite receivers. I think he found himself in a situation where he was a solid backup here, but with what we have coming in his playing time will be significantly diminished at that position. He is in a tough spot because we are also very deep at corner which is why it seems Swinney is looking for every opportunity to put him on the filed, either as a returner, a corner, or wide out. If he stays at receiver, he will be Rodgers backup this year.

Agree. Ray Ray has huge NFL potential at DB.

If he could do it, would be great for his career.

What top NFL CB's are 5'10"?

I honestly don't watch a lot of NFL, but I couldn't name a single starting CB that is Ray Ray's size. Meanwhile there are lots of slot receivers and scat backs that are his size. I think this move is just for fun since he can't work with the WRs right now. I would bet he doesn't stay over there.

Hargreaves and Verrett are top corners at 5'10". Casey Hayward is 5'11", and those are just a few of the best at CB.
I actually think there's way more of a market for 5'10" corners than receivers.

Seeing his tape and ability to run routes, sure hands, and thicker size for the slot receiver versus Ray Ray's size.
Gonna need a bigger set of backfield players to guard the young QB.

This could be an excellent opportunity to learn the WR position from a different perspective. "Know your enemy"

Yeah makes sense for a possible switch for the NFL. And there are plenty of 5'10" corners who are absolute ballhawks.

I hope he stays over there. I've seen nothing out of him as a wr that suggests he's anything but a liability. I'd much rather see Powell or Rodgers have their shot at that position this year.

On the other hand, so many others thought we were way off. Good news all the way around. I like it.

RR is getting a look at CB because he is hurt and can't practice at WR. The only way he would move is if he is better than all the other corners which is not likely. Why would he move to ride the pine?

at because one day he may end playing there full time or part time. I agree with you though that he isn't just getting moved to DB now. That's a given.

Based on most of the responses, I'm not sure people are reading the article

He's just working out at DB until his injury is healed and he can catch. He hasn't lost his starting position, so they don't think Powell or Rodgers are better WRs yet.
