Great question. If your modern era equates to the beginning of the BCS, then yes.

But if you go back some 40 years then one I found was a 1973 loss to ND where Bama was #1 going into the bowl game. Maybe there are some more recent ones but that was first I found.

Orange Bowl . Bama was undefeated and ranked #1. Tommy Nobis stopped Joe Namath on QB sneak on the 1 to clinch it.

BTW, Texas is 7-1-1 all time against Bama.
