Do Georgia fans follow recruiting as much as Clemson fans?
Jun 26, 2017, 9:12 PM

I've spoken with a couple of supposedly die hard Georgia fans, one of which is an alumnus. They weren't up to speed on Trevor Lawrence when we were in contention before he committed and the same goes for Zamir currently. It's like they're aloof to the whole process. I see people post coot recruiting threads sometimes but never Georgia. Am I off base?

I follow along with it all , recruiting is the lifeblood of any CFB program . I think it's a smaller percentage of folks who follow it for sure .

I have been on a few pup boards recently to see how they feel about white. They talk about Clemson a lot...mainly due to us recruiting well in their state. They all seem to think Lawrence wont be great.

So I asked him what he thought about odds where Zeus was going? He replied do what? I said you don't know who Zamir White is; they call him Zeus? He was a deer in headlights, no clue. Continued conversation no clue Trevor Lawerence was, no clue Deshaun was from Georgia.
I'd say no, either a bad run in with posers or they aren't a knowledgeable fan base.

This is typically the same response I get as well. Blank stare. I read a post on this thread that there are some die hard Clemson fans that don't keep up either and I get that. I just never hear or see any tnetters talking about what they're saying like our rivals. At least they have something to say about our recruits whereas Ga doesn't mostly. One tnetter knows some people that follows Ga recruiting but the gene pool seems small

Yep. Living close to the Georgia line in SC I pick up their stations from NE Georgia. They've got some pretty big boosters that are very interested in what's going on with the players in their state. They see Clemson coming, or saw Clemson coming rather. I told a GA fan last year in July that they would probably have a 8 or 9 win season. Didn't believe me of course, but spoke of Deshaun Watson and us going back to title game, that was a familiar subject. The champ came from GA, and all those boosters knew it. Now another one. We get their QB's, and the RB's seemingly " default" to them because of their past. Just goes to show that they think their Alumni and past QB, Smart can recruit. Not so much. However, when it comes to RB's, the boosters already know where the kid is going to go. Still playing an " old style game " in a " new style " offensive era. However, I do expect N. Chubb and Sony M. to both have big years this year, at least according to the boosters.

Recruiting is just a thing that some are interested in and some aren't. I know several die-hard Clemson fans that don't keep up with it. They know who signs and when they sign but don't care who says they are gonna sign months or a yr or two beforehand. But the couple GA fans I know don't keep up with it either. They probably get sick of hearing about 4 and 5 star players committing there and having top 5 recruiting classes year after year and still can't win their conference, much less something relevant beyond that.

I work with a lot of delusional Georgia fans and when Trevor Lawrence committed, I had one dawg fan tell me T. Lawrence flipped a coin (Georgia or Clemson) to see where he was going. To top it all off, he said he heard that from one of his inside sources that's real close with the UGA program. You cant make this stuff up.

I actually met Vince Dooley last week and got him to sign a picture to my boss.
He follows recruiting pretty closely.
I don't. You could've offered a million bucks last week and I could not have told you who Zeus was.
I graduated Clemson in '04 and my wife in '06 and my parents in the 70's so don't call me a coot. I just don't care about recruiting.

Just curious. How can you have over 13,000 pts and %100 pulse & not know who Zeus or Zamir is? Not slamming you at all, but if you log on that often you have to see his name on here daily for the last 6 months?
