Well apparently if they aren't at least 12,000 ft tall they aren't considered mountains. So no, I guess they are just big hills. But they also have humidity, that might take away from them being considered mountains.

Mt Six Mile is close by, so is Rich Moutain (Oconee), Glassy in Pickens, Ceasar' Head and Table Rock are further out in Pickens Co, Gville even has Paris, so the only county in the Clemson area that I am not aware of having a "Mountain" is Anderson Co.

All of those except Mt Six Mile is more than likely considered a mountain. Mt Six Mile is a joke for us who grew up there.

Glassy's peak os listed @ 1647 ft, Paris has peak @ 1926 ft, Rich @ 2540 ft, and both Ceasar Head and Table Rock are @ 3000+ ft.

Six Mile Mt is listed as 1581 ft. Haha

Criteria...

Jun 22, 2017, 2:17 PM [ in reply to Re: But do those pass the "TIP of the mountain" criteria?*** ]

as best I can tell:

1) Peak must be at least 12,000 feet tall
2) Must be no humidity
3) Must have snow at least a few months per year

Almost forgot...

4) Must be at least a 40 degree difference in temp from surrounding areas.

There's no mountains in the Southeast....just big hills. The only mountains in the East are in VT, NH and ME. All the real mountains are out West.
