Interesting note on stadium sizes

May 24, 2017, 11:30 AM

Washington State is the only school in the PAC-12 whose football stadium holds more people than live in the town where it is located.

There are at least 3 of these in the ACC. I wonder how many nationally.

Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss for sure. Texas A&M and Arkansas would be close, depending on what capacity is and what the population actually is.

Id think there are quite a few...

just thinking about the SEC (Im only guessing), it would apply to...

Bama
Auburn
Ole Miss
Miss St
UGA (maybe)
Arkansas (maybe)
Texas A&M

Others off top of my head...Iowa, Penn St, Indiana (maybe), Ok State, Kansas

Athens is 100,000+ so not UGA.

Some of the Big 10 and Big 12 cities are actually much larger than one would think. I think Iowa City is actually pretty large, so Iowa would be a toss up. Lawrence, KS is about 100K people and their stadium is a joke, and Bloomington, IN is at least 80,000 as well. Penn St and Okie State for sure though.

I didn't figure Athens and Lawrence KS were that big.

Looks like Iowa City, College Station and Fayetteville have almost identical populations in comparison to the stadiums.

So even ESPN missed it, although populations change every day
