Definitely not loving this format

May 23, 2017, 11:19 PM

A format where a team knows it has to play 2 games but there is no hope if you lose the first has no place being called a championship format. At least with regular, double-elimination a team can get its ### kicked and turn things around.

For us, there is no point in Friday except for fans that have made reservations and just like watching a baseball game regardless of results.

Play double elimination or don't have a tournament.

That's what baseball has always been until recently

I agree, BUT -

Had we not screwed the pooch the last 3 ACC series we'd still be in it as the top seed in our pod. ONE WIN from being the 4-seed.

I don't like this format either. There will probably be four

such games (one per "pod") where the teams involved don't care, because they know they either aren't going any further, or it has already been predetermined that they are before the game even starts, so they will rest players and throw their worst pitchers out there. Doesn't make for good baseball or fan enjoyment.
