Beyond the NCAA awarding NC 2 bball regionals over

Apr 19, 2017, 10:58 AM

the next four years, no one's discussing the other 20 choices given to NC most of which are NCAA championships. Its great that Greenville and Cola each got a regional too, but there are some excellent baseball parks and golf courses in SC as well.....and once the ACC makes its championship location choices for the next few years publicly known, it'll be back to business as usual giving the 4 Tobacco Rd schools an incredible homefield advantage.....

That is Swoffie's design and intent.

Where do you want it? Pee Dee River Expo center in Florence?

Get a grip man, SC doesn't have the locations like NC.

If Greensboring is deemed worthy of hosting ACC basketball

Apr 19, 2017, 8:11 PM

tournament why can't Greenville host too? Greenville is a similar-sized metro area, has a nice arena also, and has a much nicer downtown area which also happens to be right around the arena.

The bottom line is that the ACC leadership doesn't want to be inconvenienced to leave the comfort of their homes and offices. They don't care about fans or other schools in their conference.

Need to get out and see SC. A lot of venues that can host

ACC events. But we would not want to inconvience the ACC blue bloods by having to travel out of state.

The ACC needs to stop being so North Carolina-centric.

Apr 19, 2017, 8:08 PM

It is a sham that a league which now stretches up and down the east coast, from Massachusetts to Florida, insists on keeping virtually all conference championships in North Carolina. I'm fine having some of them there, what what's wrong with other cities too?

The ACC leadership comes across as:
-Not wanting to travel far from their homes for tournaments
-Not caring about fans of ACC teams in other states
-Playing favorites with the old guard ACC schools in NC

It seems to be "homerism" by swoffie and his all out effort to have it close for his team, and the other NC schools that just happen to be close.

The coliseum in Greenville only seats @15,000 for basketball and is too small for the ACC tournament which includes 15 schools. ACC Tournament tickets are used by the schools to reward major donors.

I didn't know that. That being the case, it makes sense to have it where there are more seats, but there are other venues besides just NC.

Brooklyn, DC, Atlanta and Tampa are not in NC. I agree the ACC is too NC centric,, but they have made an effort to move the basketball tournament around lately. Let's not ignore the facts just to fit our Swofford is a Scoundrel narrative.

Nobody has to change any "facts" to make swofford a scoundrel. He did that to himself. Some had rather just ignore it or pretend he isn't. That would not be me. Swoffy's bias is alive and well, and he has displayed it on many occasions.

That still doesn't change my opinion that swofford is a homer.

I don't particularly care for Swofford, but many on tnet seem to be incapable of understanding that Swofford does not get a vote. The ADs and Presidents are the ones who make decisions. NC schools only have 4 votes. That leaves 11 non NC votes(10) for football decisions. I believe 10 or 11 could outvote 4.

Exactly! He has plenty of influence, and then again he is dealing with folks who are just like him - jealous as -ell.

Nc is kind of central. For instance what if the football conference championship was played in Pennsylvania and FSU and Miami played in it?
