there. He seems to bring in about 5 per year. Dude can go get some players.
Meanwhile, we go after transfers - players that for some reason, didn't pan out at their first destination. Like Jucos, there's a reason for their situation.

And they have done pretty well.
I didn't like some of that stuff early on, but it's hard to argue he hasn't done his job and then some.
Compared to our guy, he is God.

coached him, or both.
Martin took over a program that hadn't been to the NCAA Tournament in 8 years and was in absolute oblivion. 5 years later they are in the final 4.
Brownell took over a program that was coming off of 3 straight NCAA appearances. Since making the dance in his first year with the former coach's players, he hasn't been back in 6 years, and finished up his 7th year by getting his hat handed to him in an embarrassing loss at home to a Horizon League team.
Draw your own conclusions.

As mediocre as we are, Brownell is going to have take some risks recruiting . If that means stretching some rules so be it. Basketball recruiting is not a clean game. Clean or not, if he doesn't win next year, he won't be coaching at Clemson anyway.

And they haven't had too many players overly hyped or overly talented enough to leave early. Also have to take in account that they are not in the deepest basketball league in the country. I think if our players hadn't had so many soul crushing close losses, had a little more momentum as a result, or been in a different league that we probably would have gotten a bid, and won a game or two in the tournament.
But Usc's defense has been impressive. And their younger players have been playing better on offense as the season has continued.
