What if Brownlee gets us to the dance next year?

Before you ask, no, I'm not drunk or stoned (even though both would be nice).
I don't know if anybody has really considered it; I know I hadn't. But what if Brad really responds to the challenge, a freshman or two surprise, and the returning players step up? What then? There would be no way in hayull that he would be canned then. What do you think would happen, and what do you think should happen? Can him anyway? Keep him for one more year? Give him a raise and another 6-year extension?

The way I view it...

If he does that and has another good recruiting class to follow that one up, then why would we let him go?

He can be the ACC's 1-yr contract warrior as far as I care

Just no more multi-year extensions or buy-outs.
Nice thing about a coach with CBB's storyline here doesn't really have to worry about other programs poaching.

his name is Brownell. it seems like you could get this right given you are posting about him.

Lol...you must have missed the last 8 years. Welcome to Tnet...try and keep up. Recommendation: go listen to year 1 and 2 broadcasts.

I thought about it.

And I think they will make it to the Tourney next year. We lose JB but my understanding is the rest are back. Not a lot of leadership on the team this year and hopefully some others step up with their star now gone.
Brownell then retains his job.
Win a tourney game, get an extension.
Make it to sweet 16, get a longer extension.

What would our FB team have proven if we would have loss to OSU in the playoffs. We wouldn't have proved that we were National Champions. Getting close to your goal isn't getting there. Next year when it's time for the playoff games, nobody will remember who played in the playoffs last year, but everybody will remember who won the NCG. It's the same just getting to the dance, nobody will remember if you danced!!!

No more extensions other than annual add-ons with no-buyouts at same salary.
Go Tigers.

He will get a contract extension.

And I would be okay with that.
If he wins at least one game in the NCAA tournament, he will get a raise along with the extension.
I do think we make the NCAAs next year.

I agree with everyone on this thread. Definitely no more extensions r buyouts etc.
Even with a final 4 appearance. Even as great and wonderful it would be, no xtends until proven it can be sustained.
IMO all this is hypothetical because not going to happen. I can see getting in and being a one and done.

IF he becomes successful, I doubt he'll want to stick around with much of the fanbase acting the way it has. He'll probably look for an exit strategy if available. Who would want to coach where you feel like you're constantly on the hot seat? He'd leave on a high note to secure an equal or better coaching position and extend his head coaching career a few more years.

If we sneak it as a 10 seed then get drilled in the first round... I mean how good do we really feel about that?
