June 30, 2014 - March 1, 2017 = 2.5 years (~913 days)
UNC just received the 3rd version of the NOA on December 13, 2016... so the response is due this month

you're combining two distinct investigations

and the first one resulted in probation, scholarship reductions, no bowl, etc...
started in the summer of 2010 and penalties were announced in March 2012 (not much different from the Ole Miss time line)
UNC self-imposed some penalties and the NCAA added some on.
football probation ended in March 2015
NCAA renewed its investigation into the broader scandal around 6/30/14

Thats not true at all about self-imposed

UNC suggested a more lenient self imposed penalty and was denied and levied a harsher penalty. That is not a self-imposed penalty. How hard is it even for unc folks to understand that?
If my son crashes a car while recklessly driving, and then walks into our room while we are discussing an appropriate punishment before we ultimately hand it down and says "hey, I know how you can punish me, you can take away my ipad for a week" and we say "uh, no, you lose your license for a month and we are selling the car" - then he didn't self-impose a penalty.
Just another lie being trotted out by tarhole fans, lawyers and PR firms.

but not unusually, the facts don't match your own biased narrative
"The NCAA has placed North Carolina's football program on three years' probation and banned it from the 2012 postseason, the governing body announced Monday.
The school already had imposed several penalties, including vacating all 16 wins for 2008 and 2009, reducing nine scholarships over the next three academic years and putting the program on two years of probation.
But the NCAA didn't stop at UNC's self-imposed penalties,...
http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/7677271/north-carolina-tar-heels-handed-postseason-ban-2012-ncaa
"After a 16-month investigation, the NCAA announced its sanctions regarding the UNC football program. The Tar Heels had imposed their own sanctions, including vacating all 16 of its 2008 and 2009 football victories, a nine-scholarship reduction over the next three academic years, a $50,000 fine and two years probation.
But note that UNC did NOT self-impose a bowl ban, as the Miami Hurricanes did this past November (the only self-imposed step the Canes have taken thus far in the Nevin Shapiro case), and the NCAA obviously didn't agree with UNC's decision on that.
The NCAA Comittee on Infractions hit UNC with
* Three years' probation from March 12, 2012 through March 11, 2015
* A reduction of 15 scholarships over those three years
* Postseason ban for the 2012 football season."
