Yeah he's rolling over a lot of outside fastballs, hitting weak grounders to second or first. He's still squaring some balls up though, just hitting them right at someone. The good thing is if he has a "sophomore slump" it will still be a pretty good season, compared to the numbers he put up last year. Something like hitting ,300 with 12 homers and 45 rbi's. For him, that's not his best season. For others, that's a great season.

He is too good and is baseball smart , he will figure it out.
He is not sneaking up on anybody this year and teams know his weaknesses.
Also learning to play first may have some to do with it also.

he hit a ball today that would have been out of most MLB

parks. Would have been out of BTF if he had pulled it 10 feet, even with the strong headwind.
Also lined out in the first, would have been a double if he had pulled it 10 feet either way. Just hit it dead straight at the CF, who never moved.
Should have had 2 HRs on Friday also, without the wind killing those. You TV folks have no idea how strong that wind was blowing in off the lake the last 3 days (or 80% of the time at Clemson, for that matter).
Beer isn't struggling one bit. Even most of his foul balls are timed well (straight back)
I guess it makes a difference to actually be in the stands to be able to see whether a player is seeing the ball well or not.

struggling, I'll take it. We knew going in that teams would adjust to him after seeing him last year. now we get to see if he can adjust. How about give him a little time.

Give him time to let the lineup settle and once his protection is there, he will produce. Guys have to get on ahead of him though or they pitch to the shift all day long.
