the bball excuses just do not ring true..

facilities and bball tradition are important, but.. schools like Gonzaga, Wichita St., etc seem to do pretty well. With the pitch of ACC hoops and cachet of our traditions and campus, I think we can do better. Granted, going to a "bball school " probably has some advantages, but we are being consistantly whipped by other "football " schools. Just dont see another year for BB being any different

Gaonzaga and Wichita State do not play in the ACC

and while they might do reasonably well if they did,
it's simply not a reasonable comparison.
for starters,
Gregg Marshall at WSU doesn't have near the academic requirements
that Brownell faces here at Clemson,
nor do they have a Football program that is the 800-pound gorilla
in the room when it comes to competing for funds.
you people need to stop....
just effing stop.

I don't think competing for funds is the issue.

and we've had BBall in the ACC for 60+ years
as no better than our 2nd sport,
well, it's just a foregone conclusion that I'm going to bash a little.
sorry...

of course football is the number one sport.

That doesn't automatically mean we can't, or shouldn't expect to be competitive in basketball. It's not like we're spending all of the money on football and none on other sports.

there are 250+ D1 programs throwing $$ at BBall programs

money is not the differentiating factor in terms of results returned.
mostly, Clemson simply has no Brand in Basketball....
plus we are the ACC basketball equivalent of the SEC's Mississippi State in Football -
way too much recruiting competition for too little geography...

"...way too much recruiting competition for too little geography... " - whatever you do, do NOT tell Dabo that.

Clemson football and basketball are apples to oranges. Clemson Football is to UNC Basketball as Virginia football is to Clemson Basketball.
Dabo's biggest disadvantage when he got here was being unprepared for a HC job as he was suddenly given the position. That's something he can personally fix with time and preparation. He had advantages in facilities, resources, fan base, tradition, etc.
Brads disadvantage list is nearly everything. We're outmatched in history, dominant conference, 2nd/3rd most important sport, facilities, and recruiting competition.

How long has brad had that upgrade? A few months. Did his most recent class improve in recruiting ranking? Yes.
Apparently upgrading littlejohn was supposed to instantly win games. Not improve recruiting and help build a team up over a few seasons. No we need instant wins!!!
