Two Words: Will Wade. Discuss

I think he'd work.

I'm sure he'd be in the running.***

Realistically, I'd want an established coach

Feb 24, 2017, 6:44 PM

who has had some success at a bigger conference, but those aren't really available except for maybe Tom Crean and he probably wouldnt want to come here. I think Wade is probably the best we can hope for and he'd be a good candidate for us.

You realize that Crean is related to Jim Harbaugh

Yes but not so sure he'll leave vcu

He could have a job a long time there

I prefer Pat Kelsey of Winthrop...

has many "Dabo-like" personality traits. Witty, funny, students love him. He's a Skip Processor protege and played at Xavier.

Why should we waste another year?

Just being realistic. He's not going anywhere this season.

I would argue it is more realistic to dump him now. His buyout only goes from $3.5 mil to $3 mil. He would enter next year without having 4 years left on his deal, which would make recruiting even more difficult. We can't reward with an extension after this year so dump him and try to start winning again

Jesus christ why can't anyone understand contracts. His ####### buyout is 3 million after this season and never changes until the last season of his contract where there is no buyout - he is simply due the full $2 million in salary. It is maddening that virtually no one actually understands the financials or contracts. No coach at the D1 level EVER coaches a contract to completion (except possibly retiring legends like Boeheim). At this point we will either extend Brownell's contract or eat $3 million. There is no in between. We can spend $1.8 million next year on a ###### coach to then pay $3 million in buyout or we can do it now. This is not ####### rocket science.
