Sure they did...they beat Bama twice and finished in the Top 10 twice. They made that $250k back in a matter of hours after Nkemdiche signed just in extra season ticket sales.

I was talking to someone this summer that knew him pretty well while he was at Ole Miss, and he said that his mom vetoed his Clemson decision "for things he didn't want to talk about". I wasn't surprised when he told me that.

I remember when all this went down and not wanting to place the blame on Robert....and I still don't.
I actually feel bad for how things went for him. I remember following things closely during his recruitment, seeing how his mother was off in Africa starting her political career while dad started working at Ole Miss after Denzel committed, forcing Robert to live with high school football coaches & friends for over a year. How f-ing selfish can these parents be to abandon their child like that? It's not as if they were migrant workers like the parents of Mack Alexander, trying to provide money for a family living in extreme poverty...she was trying to kickstart a career as a corrupt politician and he was a cardiologist. Then, while she's away, her son made a decision he and his coaches believed were the best move for him, and then she decided that maybe she'd take some time out of her life to play a part in her son's life again because there could be better financial windfall.
With all this happening, how are we supposed to expect him to act? His mom ditched him to get kickbacks in Africa while dad worked a job he got directly related to their other son committing to a school. Those are the parental examples he had. When his coach tried to point him in the right direction, and he made a choice on his own, his mom swooped in and forced him to decommit so she could reap the financial benefits. Unlike a lot of people on this site, I wasn't basking in the mistakes of Nkemdiche leading up to the draft...I certainly wasn't rooting for the Rebels, but I wasn't reveling in his personal failings either. Unfortunately, this whole situation is a horrible example of how greedy some people can be, even at the expense of people they're supposed to care about.
