Buckner or Rex ?

Jan 19, 2017, 12:48 AM

For DL Coach.
Pros for Buckner: Clemson alumni, played for Dabo, DL Coach in Arizona for a little while now in the league. Latest from Bukner as reports: If Dabo called me, and if the situation was right, I would come " crawling " back to Clemson. He loves this place..

Cons: While some experience counts, veteran experience and play calling for many years can mold a man
to know a lot of different type of looks. The DL Coach will be under Venables, so it will concentrate on the players more. Schemes goes to Venables.

Pros For Rex : Has vested interest in Clemson with his son being on the team. Veteran experience in the NFL play calling and developing players. Comes from championship lineage- yes you heard that right, you know Bears fans. Maybe a good ol' D-Line positional coaching opportunity is what He needs to move a program forward. Who knows what Rex is thinking really.

Cons: Personalities in mix with the Clemson program. Being a DL coach under a college coach, is that his incentive for coming to Clemson with Stickers all over his truck. The short answer is Yes.
The long answer is that He's tired of coaching in the league, but Rex still comes with that " I've been a head coach before " mentality. How would that mix with Dabo?

How will both men affect recruiting? Also, maybe even keeping a recruit X.T who is on the fence.

Just laying it all there, you read what's in the articles.

My take,

You are a little off on both guys----Buckner never played for Dabo or even when Dabo was here. They are not far apart in age. Rex has been a NFL head coach and would require too much money and will get another shot---if not this year, next. His son has played his last down at CU. Now, Rex's brother was his DC after New Orleans and may be a possibility. His son still is at CU after a Greyshirt year.

Both Ryan brothers have gotten fired so many times that I'm trying to figure out if this is a joke or not before I say more. ??

Neither. There are many other qualified candidates. I trust Dabo and Venables will find the right match.

I like Rex as a personality and that he is all in on clemson. However we don't need that distraction...

Kevin Steele had too much NFL in him and that didn't work out well ( did it ??)

we need a "good" defensive coach / "great" recruiter -- someone who loves the kids like his own ( Brooks / Watkins ) --- goog players love their coach = playing your heart out !!!!!
