Back when he wrote that article it was fairly accurate, we weren't an elite program, but were trying to become one. If he wrote that same article today, he would be an idiot.

Gregg Doyel is and always has been a moron***

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

From 2002! ?***

I remember this from 2002

Jan 17, 2017, 4:13 PM

And I remember being pissed. However, looking back on it now he wasn't all together wrong. In 2002 we were a fledgling program with some decent history and one great moment in time. None of that matters now and all that dismay makes this season that much sweeter.

In 2002 it had only been 20 years since we had won it all.***

Considering the time he wrote it, he wasn't off that much. When he clarified what he meant, he said Clemson shouldn't expect to win 9-10 games a season...for the decade prior to 2002, Clemson went 68-51 (57% win) with two seasons achieving 9 wins. For the 8 years after 2002, Clemson went 61-39 (61% win) with one 9 win season and one 10 win season...

...while we knew the foundation for greatness has been at Clemson for a long time, we haven't always been great. There are far more recent B.S. articles that we can find to complain about.

He was right about one thing

Jan 17, 2017, 4:33 PM

We no longer expect to win nine games a year.

Very fitting...

Gregg Doyel: didn't he used to be somebody, or some thing?

Jan 17, 2017, 6:57 PM

He completely hurdled the Great White sometime way back in 2002 or so and has not been even remotely relevant since.

That's what happens when you pick a fight with Clemson fans ... LOL.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson isn't a program that wins 9-10 games a year? He's right.

Jan 17, 2017, 7:00 PM

It was 10-11 games a year, its been 14 for the last 2 years.
